LIV Golf’s 4th event sees Dustin Johnson pick up the trophy- and a large sum of money
Dustin Johnson at the LIV Golf Series
The LIV Golf series has managed to cause its fair share of controversy over the last few months since its inception. The Saudi backed series has met with backlash for the large sums of money that it is offering golfers to join. The likes of Phil Mickelson, Bryson DeChambeau and even world no. 2 Cameron Smith have made the switch to the series.
However, this also meant that the PGA issued heavy sanctions and suspensions on the defectors, even disallowing a renewal of their membership for the 2022-23 season. The LIV Series however, continues to carry on, with the fourth event just recently being held in Boston.
It was Dustin Johnson’s win for the taking, as he gave LIV Golf its first big moment of the series, making a 35 foot eagle putt. He edged out Joaquin Niemann and Anirban Lahiri to pick up a LIV Title, and a heap of money.

“It was going a little fast, but it was a good line,” Johnson said with a big smile. “I got some unlucky breaks (on No. 18) the first time around. It owed me one and I got it,” said Johnson, pleased with the result of the event. Johnson earned a whopping $4 million from his win, and his team Aces also netted him $750,000.
Joaquin Niemann also finished on the podium of the LIV event, and he was ecstatic about it. “It was the best experience I’ve had on a golf course by far. Being in contention, with the crowd — just seeing the crowd so young. You can feel the energy. It’s way different,” quipped Niemann.
