Golf commentator Nick Faldo brutally takes a dig at the Saudi-backed league and LIV Commissioner Greg Norman ahead of the 2023 Masters Tournament. Following Augusta National’s chairman Fred Ridley’s announcement back in 2022m LIV golfers were allowed to participate in the event.

While fans are excited to see some faceoffs between LIV vs. PGA players, the sparks of war have already started. Faldo who is a LIV critic has dealt a heavy blow while insisting he has no issues with the players themselves.

Faldo states that it’s a player’s opinion to join the Saudi-backed league so he’ll not be holding it against them. Regardless, he went on to hit on LIV’s sore point this year – viewership. He spoke about how the show has only cash, but no one to watch it, comparing it to World’s Funniest Animals show. According to reports, the show had more viewers than LIV did.

Nick Faldo spoke with The Telegraph, “I’m not against them”. “They decided the grass is greener on their tour. Fine. The gripes I get is when he [Norman] said these things about doing it to grow the game of golf.”

We’ve all been here 40 years or more, hang on mate. And all this, ‘we’re going to supercharge the excitement’.” Nick Faldo went on to mock that no excitement was seen as no one was watching LIV. He stated that all they got was cash offers and players who needed it got hooked.

If you want to go and do something different, fine. But this [playing in The Masters] is a bit like, I had a job in a store and now I’ve got a new one, then you’re calling the store to get my bonus because I did 20 years with you.”

Hey, the grass is greener on the other side and all that, so OK, don’t be surprised if people object when you come back. But as we said, it’s gone very quiet. So good luck changing the game.”

Faldo may get more chances to speak his mind during Augusta National as he announced his return on set following his CBS leave. Some of the top players anticipated in the Masters are, Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler, Cam Smith, Jon Rahm, and Corey Conners.

Flado further mocked the Masters’ Championship dinner, stating they’ll be needing to provide plastic cutlery given the ongoing civil war between PGA Tour and LIV Golf. He said that it was going to be a great evening indeed.

“Apparently we’re using plastic knives and forks this year. Just in case.” He further stated that Greg Norman has “absolutely wrecked” his legacy by stamping LIV with tags like “meaningless” and “embarrassing”.
