Both Phil Mickelson and Pat Perez hail from San Diego living at a difference of only a few miles. From playing together since their junior golf days to going to Arizona State together, both of them certainly have shared their childhood together if only golf is concerned.

They both have spent over two decades on the PGA Tour. Although their success after turning professional is not that similar as compared to their previous aspects related to golf. While Phil Mickelson enjoyed a vast amount of victories in events sanctioned by the PGA Tour, 43 to be precise, Pat Perez was on the podium a mere 3 times.

Phil Mickelson has been in the firing lines of the media ever since he decided to jump ship from PGA Tour to the more lucrative and incentivized LIV Golf Circuit in a move that reportedly made Mickelson $200 million in the form of a joining fee. He has been since then voicing his opinions concerning the PGA Tour and LIV Golf due to which he got caught in a lawsuit too.

Pat Perez has a different kind of hate for Mickelson which he opened up about in Claude Harmon’s podcast – “Son of a Butch”. “When it comes to Phil, I have a different hate for Phil than most people. People won’t know the story—I’m not going to go into the story again—but Phil crossed the line with me that is just uncrossable and unforgivable” – stated Perez on the show.

According to Perez, Mickelson too is aware of the incident(s) that made Perez mad at him. Pat continues talking to Harmon and says – “He knows that he screwed up. He apologized for the action, but I cannot forgive him for it because I’ve known Phil for a long, long time. I’ve known the guy forever. And the fact that when he made this action, not only was it—he had intentions of doing it”

Perez at the start was full-on pro-PGA Tour, always supporting the more conservative Golf circuit as opposed to the more lucrative Saudi-PIF-backed LIV Golf. But as it turned out, Pat Perez too joined LIV Golf. That definitely was some U-turn by Perez but h definitely would be grateful for his decision as he made roughly $8 million dollars in 7 events of LIV’s inaugural season as compared to $28 million in 515 starts over a span of 21 years. Yeah, LIV Golf is definitely rewarding and players are reaping the benefits, at least money-wise.
