“PGA Tour stands NO-WHERE”- Phil Mickelson says LIV Golf is sending triumphant shockwaves through-out PGA
Phil Mickelson
Phil Mickelson has been around in the world of golf for quite a while now and everyone knows that he is one of the most prominent figures around. The American golfer made his professional debut in 1992 and there has been no looking back since then.
He is now 52-year-old and there is no question of him calling it quits as of now. He was with PGA for all these years but earlier in 2022 he send shockwaves in the world of golf when he swapped his loyalties to LIV Golf.
The six-time major champion is one of several high-profile players who have defected from the PGA Tour to play for the rebel league. And on Thursday he insisted that Phil Mickelson’s made the right decision and has joined the “winning side.”
Phil Mickelson insisted he is loving the experience at LIV Golf
Phil Mickelson reiterated his belief in the project before the LIV event in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. He stated that LIV Golf is going to be very successful in the near future and will evolve golf as a whole.
“I think going forward you have to pick a side. “You have to pick what side do you think is going to be successful. “I firmly believe that I’m on the winning side of how things are going to evolve and shape in the coming years for professional golf,” the former PGA champion said.
“I see LIV Golf trending upwards, I see the PGA Tour trending downwards,” Mickelson said. “I love the side that I’m on. And I love how I feel. I love how I’m reinvigorated and excited to play golf and compete. I love the experience. I love the way they treat us,” he added.
Since the inception of the cash-rich league, the heated exchange between PGA and LIV is just not dying down. Authorities from both leagues are blaming each other and even lawsuits are being filed in the court of law.
PGA Tour has filed a counterclaim against a lawsuit brought by LIV last month, alleging the series offered players “astronomical sums of money” to switch their loyalties.
“Until both sides sit down and have a conversation and work something out, both sides are going to continue to change and evolve,” added Phil Mickelson. There were reports earlier this year that Mickelson was paid a massive sum of $200m fee for joining the controversial league.
“And I see LIV Golf trending upwards, I see the PGA Tour trending downwards and I love the side that I’m on. I love the way they involve us and listen to us in decisions,” the American golfer concluded.
