Rickie Fowler makes “toughest decision of his golf career” to split with long time caddie ahead of FedExCup

Rickie Fowler and his caddie Joe Skovron
A golfer is nothing without his caddie and the bond that they share is indescribable. Recently however, Rickie Fowler suffered quite the heartbreak after he split from his long time caddie Joe Skovron. This comes at a time where Fowler has made the cut for the FedEx Cup Playoffs and will require a fill in caddie instead.
Fowler has been the number 1 ranked amateur golfer in the world before he turned pro in 2009. The first decision that the golfer made was to hire Skovron as his caddie- and they have had quite the journey as a pair. The duo have enjoyed 5 PGA Tour wins including the Players Championship alongside two DP World Tour wins.
Who will replace Rickie Fowler’s long time caddie, especially as the FedEx Cup Playoffs near?

Although the pair missed out on an elusive Major title win, in 2014 Fowler became only the third golfer to have a top 5 finish in all the majors- just behind Jack Nicklaus and Tiger Woods. Fowler and Skovron reached the highest world ranking of no. 4 and even represented the US at the 2016 Olympic Games.
Ben Schomin, Tour Operations Manager for Fowler’s leading sponsor has been reported to take up the empty spot. This news comes recently after Will Zalatoris split with his long time caddie Ryan Goble. Fowler missed the cut at the Wyndham Championships but was given a golden chance at the FedEx cup playoffs after LIV Golf players were ruled to be ineligible for the spots.
