Ace golfer Steve Stricker has done it again. He aced the field to win his third PGA Tour Champions event on Sunday. The Madison resident was at his best throughout the Tour as he closed in with 6-under 64 edging past Robert Karlsson in the Sanford International.

After the match, he was pretty ecstatic. He is hoping to carry forward the momentum into the Presidents Cup to be held a few weeks later. Stricker is hoping his win will have a rub-off effect on the guys in the team room. In a video shared by PGA TOUR Champions on their social media platform – Stricker shared his views.

What makes the victory, even more, sweeter is that till last year there were question marks about whether the golfer will ever make a return to the sport as he suffered a mystery illness which was later diagnosed as pericarditis and an irregular heartbeat. He only made a comeback earlier this year in April at the Insperity Invitational where he finished tied second.

Talking about Stricker‘s season so far , he has already won The Ally Challenge a few weeks ago. After winning at Sanford International, the golfer was impressed with his aggressive style.

“You’ve just got to stay aggressive at times out here and I was doing that. I did a good job of that today and hit a lot of good putts,” Stricker said. “That one on the playoff, it was a special putt, that was really cool to do.”

Steven Charles Stricker turned pro in 1990 and has 34 titles to his credit. He joins the elite league of Miguel Angel Jimenez, Steven Alker, Jerry Kelly, and Padraig Harrington, with at least three wins this year on the PGA Tour Champions.

Runner-up Karlsson was upset with his result. “It’s more important that I played well and it’s a long time since I was in the last group,” Karlsson said. “Felt pretty good out there, so it was a good week. I have no complaints, no regrets.”
