Talor Gooch has found himself in hot water recently. The LIV Golfer might just face the wrath of his boss Greg Norman. Despite knowing the tussle he has with Rory McIlroy, Gooch went ahead and praised him as one of the top talents of the world. While it might seem controversial, he was one of the top 3 in Gooch’s eyes.

McIlroy has been a fierce supporter of the PGA Tour and also one of the harshest critics of the LIV Golf series. Ever since its inception, he has not shied away from expressing his opinion. He is what one might call the face of the PGA Tour right now. The current world no. 3 held on to the world no. 1 spot for quite a long time.

However, since the last few competitions, Scottie Scheffler and Jon Rahm have also been shuffling about for the spot. Yet, when Talor Gooch was asked about his favourite golfer, the first name that came to mind was none other than Rory McIlroy. Despite the rivalry, it is hard to deny that McIlroy has been one of the most impressive players on the field over the last couple of months.

While talking about his top 3 talents, Gooch said “[Jon] Rahm, DJ [fellow LIV rebel Dustin Johnson], Rory. This is facts, the order is opinion. Everybody else is chasin.” These are the top 3 golfers that Talor Gooch considers to be the talent right now.

Talking about McIlroy, Gooch said, “He’s incredible. But [when] firing on all cylinders there’s only three.” Gooch has made this statement, despite knowing the bad blood that he has with fellow golfer and boss Greg Norman. Their shaky history dates a long way back. The real rivalry began back in 2020, to the pre-cursor of the LIV Golf series.

It was during this time that PGL plans got canceled as rumours of players joining the new Saudi backed LIV Golf Series became viral. However, since then things seemed to have cooled down a bit. They even managed to exchange some nice words between them, before 2021 hit.

It was during this time that Rory McIlroy accused Greg Norman and the LIV Golf series of ‘brainwashing’ golfers into joining. Since then, things have been unfixable. The rivalry is never-ending and it is now spreading beyond the required amount. Yet, all the golfers remain loyal to their own tours, and will not budge.
