The PGA Tour announced some big changes in the upcoming year, the biggest of which includes a new ‘tour within a tour’ of elite golfers who will come together to play events. These events include 12 tournaments of the said series, 4 Majors, the Players Championship and 3 PGA Tour events over and above that. The news comes as an imminent change in the future of professional golf.

Recently however, Rory McIlroy had commented, “We need to make the tour more global.. you’ve got players from all over the world. I think that the tour needs to be represented in all of those regions in the world.” Now his boss Monahan does not seem to agree, because in a statement released yesterday, he talked about the tours planned for next year.
