“Harry Brook hits the jackpot” Twitter erupts as the English batsman becomes the first millionaire of IPL 2023 auction
Harry Brooke
The IPL 2023 auction has hardly begun and the teams have started pouring massive amounts to take the best of the lot for themselves. With all great names under the hammer, Harry Brooke becomes the first millionaire of the IPL 2023 auction as he gets sold to Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Harry Brooke got to the limelight recently when he broke the 125-year-old record of KS Ranjitsinhji for having the maximum runs in the first 6 innings of the Test match for England. Brooke had been a top name on everyone’s list before being auctioned for the 2023 IPL bound to start on 25th March 2023.
The first bid of the auction was set on Kane Williamson, the New Zealand captain, who was sold to Gujrat Lions at his base price of 2cr. However, this was not the case with the English batsman. As Rajasthan Royals and Royal Challengers Bangalore started the bid, no one expected the sum to go beyond a million.
However, with heart-pounding breaths, both Rajasthan Royals and Sunrisers Hyderabad weren’t ready to quit the run for Brooke. Eventually, it was Sunrisers Hyderabad who claimed their dominance as they purchased Harry Brooke at the whopping amount of 13.5 cr. Twitter has gone gaga at SRH having a great name on its 2023 card.
