World No.4, Daniil Medvedev earned a cheque for $1.56 million after an undefeated run at the Nitto ATP Finals. The 24-year-old amazed the masses with his ability to change tactics to get himself out of the toughest of situations. One of the fans he earned is 3-time Grand Slam champion, Andy Murray.

Medvedev went on to defeat Dominic Thiem in the final showdown 4-6, 7-6, 6-4. In addition, the Russian ousted all-time greats Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, the latter of whom he defeated for the first time in his career.

However, Medvedev’s reaction remained the same dialled down shrug even amidst some of the greatest victories he’ll ever score.

Murray and Medvedev joined Gael Monfils for an interview on the latter’s Twitch stream following the conclusion of the match. The former World No.1 expressed that he “was expecting something. He (Medvedev) didn’t react, he didn’t do anything!”

Andy went on to comment that his coach, Gilles Cervara seemed like he “didn’t give a sh*t” after Medvedev’s win. Murray was left baffled by the duo’s reaction to the greatest win of their career.

However, Medvedev clarified that whilst he was “smiling underneath, he decided that he wanted a ‘special thing’” and this was why he was sticking by the ‘no-celebration celebration reaction’.

Further, Daniil stated that he knew Gilles was ecstatic, but since Medvedev wasn’t outwardly reciprocating the emotion, it would’ve been awkward for him to do so alone. The Russian champ has stated that he will see this through and keep for all his career.
