“He is the most gifted scorer”: Stephen Curry reveals which active player he looks up to the most
Kevin Durant and Stephen Curry
For the Golden State Warriors, Stephen Curry has had an exceptional run with the team so far this season. The team is currently at the top of the league with a record of 30 wins and 9 losses with most of those wins produced without Klay Thompson on the roster who surprisingly had a great return game.
Curry has pumped up his scoring ability since last year as he is one of the leaders in the NBA in scoring this season with a total of 966 points and 43 games left to conclude the regular season. He is also the best shooter in the history of the league with a range that could reach the stars. Having achieved so much halfway through the season, here is his opinion on who might be the best scorer in the league currently
Stephen Curry picks his current top scorer in the league
The Warriors point guard believes that his former teammate Kevin Durant is the best scorer in the league at the moment. “I’ve always admired the way KD gets it done. Obviously playing against him for many years, and being his teammate for three years. He is the most gifted scorer.” said Curry. Durant leads the league in points per game averaging 29.8 points and has scored the most points with a total of 1,014 points this season.
Kevin Durant has been the league’s Most Valuable Player winning it during the 2013-14 season. Durant became the youngest player in NBA history to win a scoring title by the age of 21. He had 46 games with 30 points or more. The Brooklyn Nets forward is listed at 6 feet 9 inches (although rumored to be at least 7 feet) with the movement of a guard and the ability to shoot over anyone.
Stephen Curry takes a jab at former teammate Kevin Durant
Both players have had the opportunity to play with and against each other. But considering their height difference, Curry takes the ‘W’ as he has single-handedly brought the Warriors back to its original. Listed at 6 feet 3 inches tall, Curry manages to shoot over double and triple teams as well as defenders twice his size with Durant being one of them.
However, the legendary shooter took a quick shot at his former teammate while giving himself some credit. Obviously, he did not end by just saying Durant was the most gifted scorer, he said,” He is the most gifted scorer in terms of being able to get a shot off. But when it comes to overall skill and the was that I try to get it done at 6’3, if I’m in that comparison and at the top of the league in terms of scoring, then I’m doing something right.”
This may have been a friendly critique on his fellow NBA star as both players have massive respect for each other and have been caught mocking each other before. Watch this clip of Kevin Durant calling himself a better shooter than Stephen Curry.
As All-Star voting continues to take place, both players lead their respective conferences in votes. Stephen Curry has a total of 2,584,623 votes ahead of former All-Star captain LeBron James and Kevin Durant leads the East with 2,360,435 votes and counting.
