Here are the top 10 most-searched global athletes on Google in 2020

Sports emerged as one of the worst-affected industries due to the coronavirus pandemic in 2020. Most of the events were either postponed or cancelled amidst the outbreak of this deadly virus. However, the fans continued to show their love for their favourite teams and athletes on social media. Now, let’s look at the top 10 most-searched athletes on Google in 2020.
Brazillian footballer Thiago Silva occupied the tenth spot in this list as per Google’s ‘Year In Search’. He won his record seventh Ligue 1 title in France and later left for Chelsea in the English Premier League during this summer.
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees, and former NBA player Delonte West held the ninth and eighth positions respectively. Coming in at number seven is former race-car driver Alex Zanardi. The Italian racer suffered a near-fatal cycling accident in June 2020 and was transferred to a hospital in November.

Uruguayan football star Luiz Suarez, at six, made it to the headlines as FC Barcelona cut ties with him after six seasons. Later, the 33-year old joined La Liga rival Atletico Madrid.
Ryan Newman: Most-searched athlete on Google in 2020
Mike Tyson’s comeback was a big storyline throughout the year which made him land at the fifth most-searched athlete on Google in 2020. His exhibition fight against Roy Jones Jr. last month earned him this spot. Patriots-turned-Buccaneers quarterback Tom Brady followed Tyson at the fourth position in this list.

One of the world’s most recognized athletes, Michael Jordan, finished second with the release of The Last Dance, the 10-part docuseries on Jordan and the 1997-98 Chicago Bulls. It also became the most-watched documentary in the history of ESPN.
Surpassing everyone, NASCAR driver Ryan Newman was the most-searched athlete this year as per Google’s ‘Year In Search’. The 43-year-old NASCAR veteran was involved in a horrific final-lap accident in February at the Daytona 500.
