LeBron James is always in the headlines no matter what he does. However, it is more so at the moment, as he is an unrestricted free agent for the first time in eight years after parting ways with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Many expected James to end his career in LA, but he surprised everyone when he decided to test free agency after completing his 23rd season in the NBA. Despite being in the backend of his career, he has generated interest from several clubs, and there has been no shortage of suitors.

The King has achieved everything since joining the league in 2003, but he has made it clear that he still has the drive and passion for more. While he has been linked to multiple clubs over the last few weeks, he has stayed mum so far.

There is no doubt that James wants to compete for a championship as he prioritizes his happiness over anything at this stage of his career. As clubs and players make their pitches, it looks like the most influential person in his decision is his daughter, Zhuri James.

During his appearance at Fanatics Fest in Manhattan, James revealed that he wants to be close to his daughter. Senior NBA reporter Melissa Rohlin hinted that his daughter could influence his decision to join the Golden State Warriors.

Zhuri has lived in Los Angeles since she was a preschooler. It’s where her friends are. It’s where she’s becoming a volleyball star. Uprooting her would be extremely difficult.  That’s why it’s hard to imagine James choosing anywhere besides Golden State to finish his career.

James has always shared a beautiful father-daughter relationship with Zhuri. He has shown support as she tries to make a career in volleyball. In his last two years in LA, she has often been caught courtside during his games, and he even called her a “lucky charm” as he has won whenever she made an appearance in the arena.

The Warriors have shown interest in James. Their star player Draymond Green even revealed he threw a pitch at James when they spent time together last week. But it looks like Zhuri may be the most influential person in James’ future, and the Warriors happen to offer exactly that kind of proximity for James to be close to his daughter.

LeBron James on his conversation with his daughter

LeBron James will be heading into his 24th season in the NBA. His agent Rich Paul hinted that the upcoming season may not be his final season, as James got the green light from his wife and daughter to continue. However, James’ next club will most likely be his final club in the NBA.

During his interview with CNBC at Fanatics Fest, James revealed the conversation he had with his daughter and how his 11-year-old daughter is pulling the weight a lot. He was like:

Baby, I’m letting I don’t want you to hear from nobody else, but I won’t be playing for the Lakers next year. I will be playing somewhere else, so I won’t be home all the time. And you may not have an answer right now. You can give me an answer now. You can wait. You can write it down. Just want to know how you’re feeling about it, because you mean a lot to me.

James has always been a family man. He does not want to miss seeing and being a part of his daughter’s life at this stage of his career. A number of clubs remain in the race for James, but the Warriors will be aware that they are a long shot away, but his daughter could play a major role.

LeBron James has made his mind on where he wants to play next

The NBA world has been on its toes about where James will play next. Even NBA Commissioner Adam Silver revealed that they are eagerly waiting for him to make a decision soon, so they can finish their schedule for the coming season. But for now, James remains silent regarding his future.

ESPN insider Dave McMenamin believes that James has decided on where he wants to play next.

If he’s not 100% where he’s going yet, he’s gotta be darn close to 99%.

James is expected to announce his decision in the coming days or weeks. But many believe that it is a matter of days as the whole situation continues to drag on. However, the decision is now closer than ever.
