Leads can be found naturally in Chests found in Woodland Mansions and Buried Treasures. Another way of getting leads for free are from Wandering Traders. Players can either detach them from their Llamas or kill them to receive 2 Leads.
Uses
- Leads can be used to attach it mobs and drag them about along with the player. The leads can stay attached to the mob up to 10 blocks. Players can take along multiple mobs at once with one lead only attached to one player.
- The mobs can be attached to fences using the leads.
- Players can also tie leads to Boats in Bedrock Edition.
Players need to be careful about walking into a Nether Portal because if the leashed animal walks into the portal, the lead breaks. The mobs that can be leashed are:
- Axolotls
- Bee
- Cat
- Chicken
- Cow
- Dolphin
- Donkey
- Fox
- Goat
- Hoglin
- Horse
- Iron Golems and many more!
How to make a Lead in Minecraft?
Players need only two items to make a complete Lead in Minecraft to obtain animals. These are:
- String x4
- Slimeball x1
Strings can be found from killing spiders, chests or by creaking cobwebs in mines or near spider spawners.
Slimeballs are only found from killing Slimes and Panda Sneezes. Slimes drop 0-2 Slimeballs while a sneezing baby panda will drop one. Players can also get them from Wandering Traders for 4 Emeralds.
Combine the two items in the Crafting Table in the manner shown above to make a Lead.
