Hyderabad FC have roped in Spanish attacking midfielder Edu Garcia ahead of the upcoming edition of the Indian Super League (ISL), the club confirmed on Monday.
He has penned a one-year deal with ISL outfit and will look to guide them to lift the trophy in the upcoming season.
Garcia is a versatile player who can play across various positions. He can be used either as a defensive or attacking player. The Spanish player will play under Manolo Marquez’s guidance in the 2021/22 edition of the ISL.
“I am very excited to start my journey with Hyderabad FC. I promise to give my best and help the club grow with my experience and my work,” said Garcia after penning a one-year deal with Hyderabad FC.
“I want HFC to finish as high as possible on the table, and will work hard for that. I will also always try to help the team by giving what the coach wants from me,” he added.
Edu Garcia started his Indian Super League career with Bengaluru FC during the 2017/18 edition of the league. He scored a couple of goals during the season before joining the Chinese Super League side Zhejiang Greentown.
Garcia returned to ISL and joined ATK, and played 22 matches for the Kolkata-based club. He also found the net nine times between 2019 – 2020. The 31-year-old player continued with the newly merged ATK Mohun Bagan during the 2020/21 edition of the league.

Edu Garcia represented ATK Mohun Bangan in the previous edition of the Indian Super League. He played 11 matches for the Antonio Lopez Habas coached side. He missed out on playing several matches due to an ankle injury.
His only goal came against FC Goa, where he found the net at the 75th minute. He netted in a free-kick to give his side a 1-0 lead in the game. Finally, FC Goa’s Ishan Pandita found the net to level scorers 1-1.
