“If something happens to my hip now, I will…” says Andy Murray following another injury scare
Andy Murray, former World No.1 and 3-time Grand Slam champion, has, unfortunately, had to deal with a number of perilous injuries in his career so far. These injuries resulted in setbacks for the 33-year-old, who was initially cited as one of the top contenders to win the most Grand Slam titles.
Even though Murray has made a successful comeback and won the Antwerp title after his 2019 surgery, physical problems have resurfaced. He has pulled out of this week’s Bett1Hulks Championship event in Germany due to a lingering pelvic problem. The 2-time Olympic gold medalist has also raised doubts over his participation for the remainder of the year.
The Brit was ousted by Fernando Verdasco in the first round of Bett1Hulks Indoors last week. Following this loss, he said that he was suffering from tendonitis in his left psoas, the muscle which connects the lower back to the top of the leg.
“It’s been kind of on and off since the U.S. Open. I’ve been trying to deal with it in training, and in the matches, and unfortunately after my match here this week it’s flared up again,” shared Murray.

Andy Murray sheds light on what’s to come if things don’t get better
In a Facebook live interview, Murray told that he’d been practicing for a few days. He wasn’t satisfied with the level he was playing at. Hence, he withdrew from the Bett1Hulks Championships scheduled to start this week.
During his interview with The Guardian, Murray stated that the first one to retire of ‘The Big Four’ will be Federer according to him. However, he did add that, “But who knows? If something happened to my hip, for instance, I couldn’t do anything about it.”
Murray also addressed his on-court demeanour and revealed that he is completely different off-the-court.
“People see me on TV and think I am very intense, moody and difficult. But take me away from the court and I’m pretty laid-back. I don’t have a temper, don’t break things, don’t punch walls or shout and scream. But when I’m on the tennis court, I do,” he said.
