“I’m getting the European feeling,” Michael Andretti slams F1 for not being open to an American team

Michael Andretti
Michael Andretti a motorsport enthusiast and a former racing driver and the owner of Andretti Global, wanted to get into Formula 1 with his own team this season, buying the current Alfa Romeo. But failed to do so due to a lack of team interested in bringing Andretti as a brand to the pinnacle of motorsport, leading the leader to make harsh comments calling the sport a “European Club”.
Michael now plans to bring the American brand into the sport by 2024, that being said, Andretti could be the first original American-based company to join Formula 1, despite Haas, which is apparently being controlled from European boundaries. With Drive to Survive spiking up the audience interest in parts of North America, bringing a whole team could make 350 million jumps into the sport for a specific reason.
“I’m trying to remind them that there’s 350 million people in this country, and that, yes, there’s been a spike in interest here with Drive to Survive, but that they shouldn’t be content with what they have,” said Andretti.
“We’re a true American team, we get a true American driver. Now it’s, Oh, there’s really something for the country to root for. That’s where I think our value really comes in strong, to keep that fan that they just got,” added Michael Andretti.

Michael Andretti on the political aspect of the sport

With only McLaren and Alpine supporting Andretti for a push inside the sport, it comes with its own benefits. McLaren now has a deal with Andretti as a sponsor for the EV version of the sport and Apline will be supplying the new team with the engines as a Renault-powered team.
With no other support, Michael Andretti bashed out the games teams are playing to get his team into the sport, “I think we have four or five that are definitely in our corner. But the others have their hand out: ‘What are we going to get out of it?’” he said.
With Andretti in the sport, the American audience will definitely get a personal touch with the sport, which, on the other hand, Haas is providing but their game isn’t on the top level. If the new team get into the sport, Formula 1 wants it to be a constructor-powered team, like Audi.
