Esteban Ocon will be sharing his seat with Pierre Gasly in the 2023 season. Alpine being a French team will now have two French drivers from Normandy making it an all-French team. Ocon and Gasly haven’t really been so close to each other with rumours of a clash between them. Gasly’s move to Alpine should be a great move in his career, as he was rather stuck in hopes of getting another shot at Red Bull.
Esteban on the other hand hasn’t really been on lights before the 2021 Hungarian GP. A win in Hungary brought him his much-awaited fame and the form he has been carrying in the 2022 season gives him his chance ahead with Alpine. Pierre Gasly on the other hand hasn’t really shown his form in 2022 with AlphaTauri’s not-so-competitive car. Both the drivers are almost on a level with each other with equal races, points and 1 race win each.
Ocon marks a line between the drivers with his optimistic thought of working as a teammate. “I think there are there are some great things that we can create there. The minimum is for us to do a perfect job obviously for the team, and work well together. But I’m sure everything will be good,” said Ocon as per Motorsport.com
Esteban Ocon on his relations with Pierre Gasly
Rumours and the equal competitive environment given to the drivers, a rivalry is always formed. This time it is supposed to be the French duo of Ocon and Gasly. But Ocon dismissed all the rumours and keeps his hand on better teamwork with Gasly for a better future for Alpine. The French team has shown brilliant progress in recent years and would hope to get it better ahead.
“We lost ourselves a little bit. He was doing different championships, he went to Japan, and I was staying in Europe, different teams, different times. You always want to beat your teammate when you are in F1,” Ocon said.
Ocon shared his thoughts on the relationship with Gasly after a recent shoot and whether the two interacted “We did. We had a photoshoot together. We had a couple of interviews. We did spend a little bit of time chatting. Yeah, it’ll be fun.”
Currently, Ocon and Gasly are way off each other with Ocon almost beating hsi teammate, two-time world champion Fernando Alonso and giving his team a head start for 2023 beating McLaren for the fourth position.
