‘In my mind, nothing else is important apart from Pulev’ – Anthony Joshua on his upcoming bout with Kubrat Pulev
Anthony Joshua vs Kubrat Pulev has got the world on tenterhooks. The two boxing heavyweights will fight it out at the Wembley Arena, this weekend. Anthony Joshua will be defending his WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, and IBO heavyweight titles and a win for him would surely set him up for a fight against “The Gypsy King”, Tyson Fury.
Speaking to Sky Sports in an interview during his public workout, Anthony Joshua revealed how the loss against Andy Ruiz Jr., last year in New York, has helped him evolve as a fighter and getting a warrior mindset. He also added that Kubrat Pulev was his only focus at the moment.
What people call weaknesses, I call strengths that I haven’t identified yet” – Anthony Joshua
Anthony Joshua was quoted as saying, “Sometimes when things are going well you keep working on your strengths. After my loss in New York? What people call weaknesses, I call strengths that I haven’t identified yet. I saw the strengths I hadn’t identified – what [other people] call weaknesses. I enhanced them, improved them. Now there aren’t any chinks in my armour. I’ve worked a lot on honing my craft. This will be a tough fight but I need to retain my belts. I have a warrior mindset. In my mind, nothing else is important apart from Pulev. That is my focus.” [via Sky Sports]
Anthony Joshua will be wary of the threat the big Bulgarian possesses. He has just been stopped once in his career – against Wladimir Klitschko. And he is currently on a 8 match win streak.
What do you think will happen, come Saturday? Can AJ retain his belts and move forward to the next challenge?
