India’s tour of Australia is scheduled to begin in two days’ time with an ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground. The ODI will be followed by two more ODIs in a three-match series before three T20Is and four Test matches. The tour has been one of the most anticipated ones in a cricketing schedule that has been marred by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The last time India toured Australia, they emerged victorious in the Test and ODI series while the T20I series was tied. This time around Australia have a bolstered line-up with the addition of David Warner and Steve Smith who missed the last series since they were banned for the infamous ‘sandpapergate’ scandal. India on the other hand, have a plethora of match-winners in their ranks as well but will miss the services of batting ace Rohit Sharma.

Former Pakistani cricketer spoke to a YouTube channel according to The Times of India about the upcoming tour. “Australia are playing at home and have developed a good pace attack and with David Warner and Steve Smith back, they appear to be very strong but India has some good pace bowlers who have come up rapidly and they bowled well in the last series,” he said.

“The Indian batting is also pretty impressive with some notable test performers like Cheteshwar Pujara and Ajinkya Rahane so I expect good contests.” Waqar said. He then spoke of the absence of Ishant Sharma and Rohit Sharma from the series and how it will affect India. “Rohit is a top act while Ishant has a lot of experience and wickets behind him and if they can’t make it for the Test matches, India will feel their absence,” Waqar signed off.
