At home, the Dallas Mavericks had the best shot at finishing the playoff series and getting some much-needed rest before the Western Conference Finals. But the Oklahoma City Thunder are a tough young team, hungry for success. No wonder Game 6 of this playoff series was one for the ages as both teams battled out, only for Luka Doncic and his teammates to send Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and co. packing.

However, in the first half of the game, it was Gilgeous-Alexander and his Thunder teammates who looked the ones hungrier to win. They beat the Mavericks through both quarters to lead by double digits.

At that point, many thought that there would be a third Game 7 of these playoffs. But Luka Doncic and his teammates had other ideas. From the moment the first whistle sounded out in the second half, they rallied together to win the next two quarters and stave off a final charge in the closing minutes to win the game as well as the playoff series.

Fans watching were shocked to see that the Dallas Mavericks were committing too many turnovers in a game of this magnitude. But they made it up with some crucial rebounding and regrouped to go after efficient shots in the second half.

Luka Doncic finished with a triple-double to counter the brilliant individual performance from Shai Gilgeous-Alexander. Doncic’s teammates, more importantly came up big in the clutch as they staved off a last-minute push from their opponents, to send them to the Western Conference Finals for the second time in the last three years.

For basketball fans, this playoff series has kept them on the edge of their seats. With both teams trading blows, Luka Doncic and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led their teams to prove that they both were legitimate title contenders. However, only one could prevail, and in this case, it was the Dallas Mavericks. After such an electric game and series, it was not unusual to watch the internet on fire.
