IPL 2020: 5 best games of the tournament

The Dream11 Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 season faced challenges right from the start in April- May earlier this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The season was postponed due to a nation-wide lockdown imposed by the Indian Government. BCCI with the help of the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB) decided to conduct the event in the UAE.
Even though being played behind doors, the start of IPL 2020 was like a festival for the cricket-loving country. With the group stages of the tournament over, all the 56 games are now completed. This season’s IPL saw a mixture of high scoring as well as low scoring games.
This season witnessed a unique record with four matches being tied in the tournament and were decided in the super over. This is the first time more than two games went in the super over in IPL history. This year IPL also witnessed the highest run-chase in the history of the tournament.

5. Rajasthan Royals vs Mumbai Indians – Abu Dhabi

In a high-scoring game in IPL 2020 MI batted first and set a huge 196 runs target for RR. For Mumbai Hardik Pandya played an explosive inning of 60 runs in just 21 balls with the help of which MI posted 195/5.
Ben Stokes showed his class with his first ton in the tournament and an unbeaten 107 runs knock. Sanju Samson joined stokes as the two completed a memorable 8 wicket victory over MI.

4. Royal Challengers Bangalore vs Mumbai Indians – Dubai

The IPL 2020 season’s second super-over match was played between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians. RCB batting first posted 201/3 with Padikkal, Finch, and Ab de Villiers scoring half-centuries. Mumbai chasing 200 plus runs were led by Ishan Kishan who played his first game for the side. He ensured MI tied the game with his 99 run innings.
The super over was one for the bowlers as Jasprit Bumrah for MI and Navdeep Saini for RCB were the best performers in the super over. Kohli and ABD completed the necessary 8 run target as RCB defeated MI.

3. Delhi Capitals vs Kings XI Punjab- Dubai

The second game of Dream11 IPL 2020 between Delhi Capitals and Kings XI Punjab went into a super over. The DC side made 157/8 runs batting first. KXIP with the help of Mayank Agarwal’s 89 runs came closer to win the game but tied the match in the final bowl.
Kagiso Rabada for DC wrapped things up with just 2/2 in the super over. DC batters made the runs within 2 balls and DC defeated KXIP in a thrilling game.

2. Kings XI Punjab vs Rajasthan Royals- Sharjah

Match no. 9 of IPL 2020 was one to remember for especially for the Rajasthan Royals. RR chase the highest total ever in the history of IPL thanks to a brilliant turnaround by Rahul Tewatia.
Tewatia smashed 5 sixes in one over of Shelden Cotrell as Rajasthan completed the run-chase with 3 balls to spare. KXIP riding on a century by Mayank Agarwal had posted 223/2 in 20 overs. RR made 226/6 in the final over and won the game with four wickets.

1. Mumbai Indians vs Kings XI Punjab – Dubai

Match no 36 of IPL 2020 turned out to be one for the history books as two super overs were required to separate the two sides. This was the first time in the history of IPL that two super overs were played in a single game.
MI had posted 176 runs for KXIP to chase but KXIP backing on KL Rahul’s 77 runs collapsed during the final overs. The match was eventually tied and went into the super over. Jasprit Bumrah reduced KXIP for 5/2 as MI looked to grab the win.
However, Mohammad Shami did not let that happen as he answered MI with another brilliant super over as only 5 runs were scored by MI to tie the super over as well.
Chris Jordan bowled the second over for KXIP and conceded 11 runs in his over. With 12 required to win the game, Chris Gayle and Mayank Agarwal held their nerves and KXIP won the match.
