The 13th season of Indian Premier League (IPL) came to an end where Mumbai Indians lifted their fifth trophy. The Mumbai-based franchise beat Delhi Capitals by five wickets to clinch the title. Just like any other IPL season, many youngsters came forward to exhibit their talent at an international level.

Former Australian speedster Brett Lee also got impressed with the performances of two such young talented players. Lee appreciated the performances of Royal Challengers Bangalore’s opener Devdutt Padikkkal and Rajasthan Royals’ all-rounder Rahul Tewatia. The 44-year old also hailed the young side of Delhi Capitals that played their maiden IPL finals this year.

“It has been incredible. It has been hard with no fans, but to me, the best part of this season has been the young Indian players coming through. The Devdutt Padikkals, the Tewatias. We have seen the Delhi Capitals play some really good cricket. So, I will say the fast bowlers too, but I will always say the fast bowlers,” Brett Lee said while speaking to Star Sports.

Devdutt Padikkal won the ‘Emerging Player of IPL 2020’ title after scoring 473 runs in 15 matches. The 20-year old surpassed the likes of Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Aaron Finch to become the leading run-scorer for his side this year. Padikkal also scored the joint-highest (five) half-centuries of this season.

On the other hand, Rahul Tewatia emerged as a surprise package for everyone. After struggling at various IPL franchises in previous years, Tewatia found his mojo at Rajasthan Royals. The 27-year old contributed to his team in all three departments of the game. Tewatia scored 255 runs in 14 matches and picked up ten wickets with the ball in IPL 2020.
