The Indian Premier League (IPL) is a festival in itself in India and the tournament has now started to gain popularity worldwide. The league also comes with glitzy franchises with teams like Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) owned by ‘Badshah of Bollywood’ Shah Rukh Khan.

The KKR team cross swords with Mumbai Indians (MI) today and the team will look to start their tournament on a winning note. On the other hand, Mumbai, after losing their first match, will look to take home three points tonight.

Ahead of the match, the tallest building in Dubai, the famed Burj Khalifa lit up in Kolkata Knight Riders’ colours of violet and gold.

The entire building sparkled with LED lights and the team too acknowledged it and tweeted,”Before the fireworks tomorrow, here’s the curtain-raiser! We won’t stop, on our way to the Top with upwards arrow above. Thank you @BurjKhalifa for lighting up in #KKR colours. What a welcome to the UAE tonight.”

Dinesh Karthik hopes to start their campaign in UAE with a victory

Today’s match between the two teams is at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi and their skipper, Dinesh Karthik will look to trump the defending champion.

Talking on the eve of the match, Kolkata Knight Riders skipper Dinesh Karthik said, “They (Mumbai Indians) have a team of world-class players, they are a strong lineup and the amount of IPL titles they have shows that. It’s good that we are playing Mumbai early in the tournament, every year is a different year, I am sure it will be a great game tomorrow.”

Kolkata will look to improve their record against Mumbai that currently stands at 6-19. The side has a good pool of young players along with star overseas players — Eoin Morgan and Pat Cummins — and will look to clinch the title for the third time.
