‘Universe Boss’ Chris Gayle is one of the most successful Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) batsmen in the history of the game. Known for his power-hitting, Gayle has proved his worth time and again for different franchises in Indian Premier League (IPL). He showed it once again during the game against Delhi Capitals that why he’s the best in the business when it comes to smashing runs with ease.

The 41-year old immediately went after the bowlers during the KXIP-DC clash in IPL 2020. He played a quick-fire knock of 29 runs off just 13 deliveries to shift the momentum to his side. The highlight of his inning was the over that he faced off young Delhi pacer Tushar Deshpande. Gayle went on to smash 26 runs in the fifth over of the game bowled by him.

He ended up with the bowling figures of 0-41 in his quota of two overs. The youngster has previously had decent outings with 2-37 and 1-39 in his last two games.

Chris Gayle recorded this unique feat of scoring over 25 runs in an over in IPL for the seventh time in his career. Unsurprisingly, no other batsman has done it for even more than two times in IPL history.

Jos Buttler, Shane Watson, Kieron Pollard and Rohit Sharma are the only batsmen to do it twice in their IPL careers. Moreover, power-hitters such as AB de Villiers and Andre Russell have managed to do it only once in IPL.

Gayle also scored the most runs in an IPL over

Chris Gayle also holds the record of scoring the most runs in an IPL over. The mighty batsman smashed 37 runs (wide included) off the over of Prasanth Parameswaran in a match while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. Gayle achieved this milestone against the now-defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala in IPL 2011.

Gayle’s arrival in this year’s IPL has spiced up the things as KXIP has recorded a hat-trick of victories. With this, they have kept their chances alive for qualifying for the playoffs.
