IPL 2020: Delhi Capitals beat CSK by 44 runs to go top of the points table
Prithvi Shaw’s heroics with the bat and and a sensational performance from the bowling department has helped Delhi Capitals clinch its second successive win in IPL 2020. Delhi Capitals has outplayed Chennai Super Kings in all departments to go top of the table with two wins in two games. CSK have now lost two matches on the trot and will have a lot of areas to rectify before they take the field in their next game.
Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw got Delhi Capitals to a great start in the first innings. The duo mixed caution with aggression and stitched a 94-run partnership for the opening pair. Chennai attack bowled tight lengths but wasn’t able to fetch a wicket in the first six over. Once again, the spinners went for plenty on a wicket which had a little more help for them than the previous game. Chawla took 2 wickets but conceded 33 in his quota of overs, while Jadeja went for 44 without a wicket in his four.
Prithvi Shaw played an outstanding knock of 64 runs off 34 balls, including 9 fours and 1 six. Shikhar Dhawan’s 35-run knock off 27 balls too proved vital in giving DC a solid start in the first innings. Delhi Capitals finished their innings at 175 for 3 in their 20 overs.
Chennai’s disappointing show with the bat continues
It’s time when CSK’s top-order needs to start coming good. Once again, the openers got the team to a disappointing start. Both Watson and Murali Vijay continue to disappoint in the tournament. The Australian cricketer played as many as 16 balls for his 10 before walking back to the pavilion disappointingly.
Faf du Plessis was the top scorer for his 43 off 35. Barring him, no other batsmen showed any intent in the game. Kedar Jadhav played 21 balls for his 26, while Dhoni scored 15 off 12 balls. CSK managed to score just 131 in the second innings, handing DC a 44-run win in the end.
