MI beat DC by 5 wickets in IPL 2020 finals

Delhi Capitals suffered an unfortunate loss against defending champions Mumbai Indians in the finals of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020. MI Paltan comfortably chased down an easy target of 157 with five wickets in hand, set by the Capitals. 

DC showed a good fight throughout the tournament to reach their first finals in the history of the IPL. DC skipper Shreyas Iyer also impressed everyone with his captaincy skills throughout this season. After the loss, Iyer credited the head coach Ricky Ponting for the way he mentored the team in this season.

“Ricky, the amount of freedom he gives us is outstanding. The way he motivates players is simply amazing. His team meetings and motivational speeches are quite incredible,” said Shreyas Iyer during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Shreyas Iyer played a fighting knock of 65* runs in 50 deliveries to help his side post a respectable total of 156/6 on the board. The 25-year old felt proud of the way his teammates played throughout the tournament. He also thanked the fans and all the supporters of the Capitals while signing off.

“The IPL always amazes you, it’s one of the toughest leagues to play. I’m overwhelmed to be part of it, and I’m really proud of my boys, the way they have played to reach the final, it’s not easy. Winning the IPL would have been better, but we will see to it that we lift the trophy next year. I would like to thank our fans, and we’re thankful for all the support that has been showered on us throughout the season,” he concluded.
