The experienced batters Shikhar Dhawan and Ajinkya Rahane lost their wickets very early in the game. DC were 22/3 in 3.3 overs. Then stepped up skipper Shreyas Iyer and wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant for the team. Iyer made 65 runs in the all-important finals of the IPL 2020. He batted until the last over for the team and remained not out.

Iyer joined the list of captains in IPL with the highest scores in the finals of the tournament. Shreyas Iyer’s 65 runs in the finals are second behind David Warner’s 69 runs in 2016 final. The other players in the list are MS Dhoni against MI in 2013 and Virat Kohli versus SRH in 2016. Steven Smith also has his name for 51 runs knock as Rising Pune Supergiants skipper in the 2017 finals.

DC won the toss and opted to bat first in the finals of IPL 2020. But the start for the team was faded as they were 22/3 inside four overs of the match. Shikhar Dhawan could make 15 runs as he missed the opportunity to overtake KL Rahul for the orange cap. Ajinkya Rahane could make 2 runs while Marcus Stoinis was dismissed for a duck on the first ball of the match.

Skipper Shreyas Iyer and Rishabh Pant then made a crucial partnership for the side and added 96 runs for the fifth wicket. Pant made a quick 56 runs in 38 balls but got out to Coulter Nile. Iyer was the top scorer for DC as he remained unbeaten on 65 runs. He took DC to a rather respectable target of 156/7 in 20 overs. Trent Boult took 3 wickets while Coulter Nile picked two.

Mumbai Indians will need 157 runs to win their fifth IPL title in history. Delhi Capitals have a good bowling lineup with Anrich Nortje, Kagiso Rabada, and Ravichandran Ashwin the team. They will hope to overcome the powerful batting lineup of Mumbai Indians.
