Following Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) improbable victory against Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in the Indian Premier League 2020, English pacer Jofra Archer, who contributed with crucial runs for his team, said that nobody gave RR a chance and yet they pulled it off in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 match on Sunday.

RR faced KXIP yesterday at Sharjah. Put in to bat first, KXIP amassed 223 runs thanks to Mayank Agarwal‘s explosive century. Chasing a record total, RR lost Jos Buttler early on but Steve Smith struck a fluent half century.

Sanju Samson then continued from where he left off against CSK by smashing the bowlers around the park. Following his departure, when all hope seemed lost, Rahul Tewatia who was initially struggling went berserk and led his side to victory. He was ably supported by Jofra Archer who struck two sixes off the penultimate over bowled by Mohammad Shami.

Glad we proved everybody wrong: Archer

Speaking after the match, Archer said, “Very satisfied. It was hard to believe that we would win the match against Kings XI Punjab and have some points. We were a bit slow but very glad to get over the line. The plan was just to see the ball and hit it. It was very crazy, Tewatia started to strike the ball very cleanly in the over of Cottrell and that is probably the match-winning over for me. I bet no one expected us to win especially when we got to over 15. I am glad we proved everyone wrong”
