IPL 2020: ‘I know how much it hurts’: Sachin Tendulkar lauds Sanju Samson on grabbing a stunner
Sachin Tendulkar reacted after Sanju Samson took the catch of Pat Cummins

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar went down the memory lane after watching Sanju Samson grabbing a stunner in the field for Rajasthan Royals. He took a brilliant catch during the game against Kolkata Knight Riders in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

In the 17th over off Tom Curran, batsman Pat Cummins tried to clear a slower short delivery over the boundary ropes. But he mistimed his shot, and the ball went flying towards the deep backward square region. Samson was fielding at that position and made an error while judging where the ball would land. However, the youngster soon recovered and leapt backwards to complete the catch. After taking the catch, Samson hit his head on the ground and was seen in some pain.

Tendulkar’s reaction on the catch

Moments after Sasmon completed the catch, Sachin Tendulkar took to Twitter to laud the 25-year old. The batting maestro also said that he understands the impact and the immediate after-effects of taking such a blow to the head. Later, Tendulkar also shared a video on micro-blogging site of him being caught in a similar situation during the 1992 Cricket World Cup. It was during the match against West Indies when Tendulkar took the catch of Phil Simmons similarly.

Tendulkar’s tweet read: “Brilliant catch by @IamSanjuSamson! I know how much it hurts when you bang your head like this on the ground. I experienced it in the 1992 World Cup in our match against the WI when I took a catch. #IPL2020 #RRvKKR.”

Yesterday’s match result

KOlkata Knight Riders registered a comfortable victory

Samson impressed everyone with his fielding efforts but failed to replicate that performance with the bat. He got out after scoring just eight runs from nine deliveries when Sunil Narine took his catch off Shivam Mavi.

Most of the Royals batsmen failed to impress in yesterday’s game and therefore, they lost by a comprehensive margin of 37 runs.
