IPL 2020: ‘I will do the ‘Butta Bomma’ if we win the IPL’ – David Warner promises SRH fans

David Warner

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) have had a topsy-turvy Indian Premier League season. The franchise seemed to be heading nowhere in their fight for a playoff spot but a string of wins towards the end saw them climb to the third spot on the points table. They then followed their qualification to the playoffs by defeating Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the Eliminator in a close match.
SRH will now face Delhi Capitals (DC) in the second Qualifier in Abu Dhabi today. If they win it, they will meet Mumbai Indians (MI) in the final of the IPL. SRH have had different match-winners pop up for them in different matches and today again, they will want a clinical performance. Skipper David Warner will want to come good after missing out in the previous match. If the Australian gets going, DC even with all their bowling strength would find him difficult to stop.
‘The team means a lot to me. It’s family’ – David Warner
Speaking to Sports Today about the Sunrisers Hyderabad franchise and what it means to him, skipper David Warner said, “Personally, it will mean a lot. Obviously, I missed out on that season two years back and missed out on an opportunity to put runs on the board for the team and show my value as a cricket player that my standard is up there even after having a year off.”
Warner then gave a promise to SRH fans. “I promise all the Hyderabad fans that, if we do get across the line, I will do the Butta Bomma,” David Warner told Sports Today on Saturday. Butta Bomma is a famous Telugu song that Warner performed a TikTok for during the coronavirus lockdown.
Speaking further about the team and his passion for it, “This team means a lot to me, it’s family. I call India my second home, this means a lot to myself and I have so much passion for this franchise. I have been here since the 2nd year and have had the backing and support of the franchise to get me in the auction. They gave me that belief and let me lead the side in 2016. Obviously, with Kane (Williamson) and Bhuvi (Bhuvneshwar Kumar) taking over the reins last year when I was not there, this means a lot to all of us. This involves a lot of planning, a lot of hard work, a lot of preparation,” Warner said.
“It will mean a lot to me personally but it will mean a lot more to the franchise and more importantly to the fans who have stuck with us, day in and day out. We just keep putting a smile on people’s faces in these unprecedented times,” Warner signed off.
