IPL 2020 : ‘Icing on the cake’ quips Lockie Ferguson after super over heroics
Lockie Ferguson
After a long wait, Lockie Ferguson was back in KKR colours and what an addition he proved to be for the side. Ferguson was the best of the lot for KKR, who managed to sneak past a win against Sunrisers Hyderabad. The Kiwi was a shot in the arm for KKR’s struggling bowling department as he returned with figures of 3-14 from his 4 overs.
KKR’s super over hero
Laced with a plethora of variations, Ferguson worked his magic in the super over as he sent SRH packing for just 2 runs. He outfoxed Warner with a slower one on the first ball of the super over before castling young Abdul Samad on the third ball. Skipper Eoin Morgan and his deputy Dinesh Kartik did the rest with 2 balls to spare.
Ferguson shared that he had plans for day and it all went accordingly for him. He was glad to put the icing on the cake to top off his return to the side.
“It’s great having Morgs (Eoin Morgan) at the top off the mark with his calmness and of course I had my plan which was working throughout the game. Look we’ll take this win and enjoy tonight, it was a very good win on a tough wicket. It was nice to put the icing on the cake after the batsmen’s effort,” said Ferguson.
Ferguson’s addition was a major boost for the struggling KKR and Morgan acknowledged the fact. He was overjoyed by the New Zealander’s performance and was relieved to get his first win as KKR skipper.
“For Lockie to come in and perform in both phases was outstanding. We’ve been sort of striving to get wins out of the last couple of games, didn’t happen against Mumbai; today we were competitive,” said KKR skipper Eoin Morgan.
