We are just hours away from the big game of the 13th season of the Indian Premier League. And it is two teams on the opposite ends of the experience spectrum who battle it out for the prestigious trophy in Dubai tonight. It is four-time champions Mumbai Indians taking on first-time finalists Delhi Capitals in the summit clash of IPL 2020.

MI captain Rohit Sharma‘s form this season has been very dismal this season. And with many franchises tinkering with their opening combination in this edition of the league, there is a possibility that struggling Rohit might make way for young Ishan Kishan at the top of the order.

We will probably see the best of him

Former Australia all-rounder Tom Moody played down the possibility of any tinkering in Mumbai’s top order. Moody pointed out that Rohit is one of the best batters in white-ball cricket and he won’t be surprised if he fires on the big stage. Moreover, he feels that moving Ishan up is not going to do much good for the defending champions as the young keeper-batsman is already doing wonders in the middle order.

I don’t think it’s going to happen. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if we don’t see the best of Rohit Sharma in the final. We know he is a wolrd class player and world class player welcome the big stage. So we will probably see the best of him in the final,” Moody told on ESPN Cricinfo T20 Timeout.

Ishan Kishan has shown his adaptability, he has been very effective in the middle order. So it’s not like you are gaining a massive amount by making that change.

The former SRH coach advocates the return of Harshal Patel to the side. Moody opines that his inclusion will provide depth and variety to the Capitals’ bowling lineup. DC already have the likes of Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje and Marcus Stoinis in the pace department.

To me it makes sense. I thought he would have played in the game before but clearly that wasn’t the case. It all points in the direction. It is more of a sensible decision to take in Harshal Patel just to provide that variety in the middle of the innings. And just give that Delhi Capitals bowling line up a little bit of depth and quality,” he explains.
