Jos Buttler will miss Rajasthan Royals‘ opening game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to undergo the mandatory quarantine period. According to reports, he will complete his 6-day mandatory isolation in the UAE with his family.

Recently BCCI allowed England and Australian players to undergo 36-hour quarantine instead of 6 days with the reason being the players traveling from one bio-bubbe in UK to another one in UAE.

Although, Jos Buttler had decided to miss the final T20 against Australia to spend time with his family. As a result, Buttler came to UAE separately and now has to undergo a mandatory isolation period. He will complete his isolation period with his family in Dubai.

Rajasthan Royals shared a video of Buttler on Instagram where he confirmed his absence in the first game of IPL.

Steven Smith for Rajasthan Royals

Jos Buttler spoke about the possibility of Steve Smith and Jofra Archer in the playing eleven of the Royals.

Jofra has been bowling seriously fast this summer. It’s been nice watching him brilliantly and fast. Steve is our captain, so I am sure he will have his name on the team sheet,” he said.

Buttler also was hoping to meet talented young batsman Yashasvi Jaiswal in the IPL 2020. He said Jaiswal is a promising cricketer and was happy that he joined the Rajasthan Royals side.

“I have not met him yet but I am excited that he has joined the Royals. He has been doing brilliantly well for India U-19, he is such a huge talent. I am looking forward to meeting him and watch him bat. It is always good to see young Indian talents unearth in the IPL. I am glad that he is on the Royals side”, Buttler added.

Rajasthan Royals play their first game against Chennai Super Kings on 22nd September in Sharjah. The Royals side will be without star all-rounder Ben Stokes who is in New Zealand with his ailing father. He will join the side in the second half of IPL 2020.
