Kings XI Punjab registered one of the finest victories in Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Defending a paltry total of 126 was never going to be an easy job for the KXIP bowlers. But they clinched the game from the jaws of defeat in the ultimate over after a collective effort from the franchise.

While batting first, Mandeep Singh came to open with KL Rahul as Mayank Agarwal was rested due to an injury. This game had an emotional connect for the 28-year old as he lost his father on the day before the match. As a result, the KXIP players wore black armbands during the clash against Hyderabad.

It turned out to be an emotional day for the fans as Kolkata Knight Riders batsman Nitish Rana dedicated his half-century in the previous game against Delhi Capitals to his late father-in-law. Rana played a match-winning 81 runs off 53 in the team’s 59-run victory.

After completing his 35-ball 50*, Rana opened his helmet and displayed a jersey with ‘Surinder’ written on the back. Surinder Marwah is the name of Nitish Rana’s late father-in-law who passed away on October 22, after losing his battle with cancer.

Nitish Rana received massive criticism for his continuous failures while batting at number three for his side. The Delhi-born stepped up in this game to open with Shubman Gill and slam all his critics with a mind-blowing inning. With this victory, KKR continues remaining at the fourth spot in the Points Table.
