IPL 2020: Kings XI Punjab sport black armbands as tribute to Mandeep Singh’s late father
Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) are sporting black armbands today in their match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the Indian Premier League. The reason for this is because KXIP cricketer Mandeep Singh‘s father passed away last night and KXIP have decided to pay tribute to him.
KXIP are facing SRH today in what is a crucial match for both sides. Following Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) win over Delhi Capitals (DC) earlier in the day, the pressure is on both sides to notch up a win today. SRH who won the toss chose to field first.
Mandeep Singh opens innings despite personal loss
Despite the overwhelming personal loss, Mandeep Singh was inducted into the team and the right-hander opened the innings for his side. Although Mandeep was dismissed for 17 runs off 14 balls, the very fact that he took the field despite his loss took grit, guts and determination.
Mandeep’s bravery was lauded by cricketers, fans and teams alike as they came together to praise him for the same.
