Lalit Yadav
Delhi Capitals’ dream start to the 13th season of the IPL is now in serious jeopardy as injury threatens skipper Shreyas Iyer. Iyer picked up a shoulder injury in DC’s last game against Rajasthan Royals. Iyer is the fourth player who has had to leave the field in agony for the table toppers. Now it looks like the team management might turn to Lalit Yadav if Iyer Isn’t fit for the next game.
Wonder boy Lalit Yadav
Losing two flamboyant Indian batsmen in the span of a week, DC’s team combination is now in shambles. And they have no way left but turn to Lalit if Iyer Isn’t fit for their next clash against Chennai Super Kings. Lalit, who is best remembered for scoring a double century in a 40-over game while playing Under-14 cricket also has the reputation of hitting six sixes in an over twice.
The Delhi lad is coming off a phenomenal campaighn in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in 2019/20 where he had a strike rate of almost 140. Lalit is also a handy bowler with 20 wickets to his name in 30 T20 matches at a pretty decent economy rate of 6.92. He has played 12 First Class games and averages close to 41 with six half centuries and will be a handy addition to the side.
Injury woes hunt the table-toppers
Shreyas Iyer is the fourth player DC have lost to injuries yet, an unfortunate streak which started with Ravichandran Ashwin in the side’s tournament opener. Since then Ishant Sharma and Amit Mishra, both who showed promise in the games they played, have now been ruled out of IPL 2020. The Capitals lost their star batsman Rishab Pant as he was ruled out for a week with hamstring injury.
While the side has been performing extraordinarily well but losing such firepower towards the business end of the league might invite trouble for them. DC face CSK next at Sharjah and with as many as three newcomers in the side, it will be interesting to see how the table-toppers manage to hold on to the spot.
