Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni confirmed he is not going anywhere as he will be back in the next season for the three-time IPL champions. He said that the CSK will come stronger in the upcoming edition which is a few months away from now.

‘Definitely not’ – was Dhoni’s response when he was asked by commentator Danny Morrison during the toss if this year was going to be his last in yellow in IPL. Following this, ‘definitely’ and ‘not’ were the two words that trended in everyone’s feed across all social media platforms.

Moreover, the 39-year old also explained the reason behind giving away his jerseys to many players during IPL 2020.

“Good to see you have some jerseys left. I know everyone is sneaking one of you,” Harsha Bhogle said to Dhoni during the post-match presentation ceremony. “Maybe they thought I am retiring. I have retired from international cricket. Maybe I will retire from the shortest format also,” replied Dhoni.

“It’s (IPL 2021) only a few months from now, that’s a good thing and hopefully no lockdown so you can put in a lot of pressure on the skill aspect. A lot can be planned provided there’s no lockdown,” said Dhoni on his plans for the upcoming edition.

We need to slightly change our core group: Dhoni

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) registered an emphatic victory over Kings XI Punjab by nine wickets. Moreover, with this, they completed a hat-trick of wins to sign off the season at a high note. But IPL 2020 overall turned out to be a torrid season for MS Dhoni’s men as they finished at the second last spot in the Points Table. Dhoni admitted that their side needs slight changes in their dugout before taking the field in the next season.

“We need to slightly change our core group and look for the next 10 years,” Dhoni said after the team’s final league game.

“At the start of the IPL, we made a team and it served well. There comes a time where you have to shift a bit, hand it over to the next generation. We’ll come back stronger, that’s what we are known for. It was a difficult campaign. We committed a lot of errors. The last four games were a template of where we would like to be,” the 39-year concluded.
