IPL 2020: MS Dhoni becomes 1st captain to win 100 matches

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni created a new record after winning the opening match of IPL 2020 against defending champion Mumbai Indians on Saturday. Dhoni became the first captain in the Indian Premier League (IPL) history to win 100 matches as CSK won the match by 5 wickets against MI in Abu Dhabi.

The Yellow Army chased down 163 runs against Mumbai Indians at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium to register their first win over Rohit led side in over 2 years.

The Mumbai Indians have faced the CSK 28 times so far in the tournament. In the previous season, both team played 4 matches against each other and MI won all of them. However, MI have lost all 8 of their opening match since 2013.

We may practice enough but when you go on the field you need to assess the conditions and give it your best. It took us time for the bowlers to find the right length on this pitch. Plenty of positives but still plenty of areas for us to improve.

Mumbai flattered despite a good start

Mumbai Indians on Saturday impose a strong start as their opening batsmen Quinton de Kock and skipper Rohit Sharma scored 33 and 12 respectively but couldn’t managed to make it to win.

In the same Jadeja’s over, Du Plessis took two phenomenal catches near the boundary to send back Saurabh Tiwary (42) and Hardik Pandya (14).

Fellow South African Lungi Ngidi picked three wickets which includes Kieron Pollard (18) and Mumbai managed only 41 runs in the last six overs, losing six wickets too.

Subsequently, CSK’s star batsmen Ambati Raydu and Faf du Plessis scored 115-runs stand for the third wickets while Piyush Chawla was phenomenal with the ball followed by the Sam Curran, Deepak Chahar and Lungi Ngidi.
