IPL 2020 Qualifier 1 MI vs DC: All-round Mumbai Indians register a commanding win over Delhi Capitals by 57 runs to book a spot in the finals

Mumbai Indians (MI) registered a commanding victory in Qualifier 1 of Dream11 Indian Premier League 2020 (IPL) over Delhi Capitals (DC). MI defeated DC by 57 runs at the Dubai International Stadium and booked a place in the finals of the tournament. This will be the 6th final in IPL history for Mumbai Indians. Delhi Capitals on the other hand will play the winner of Bangalore and Hyderabad for a place in the finals.
DC won the toss and allowed Mumbai to post a target in the first innings. MI after struggling at one stage picked themselves up and finished the innings with 200/5 in 20 overs. Rohit Sharma playing his second game after injury, got out to a golden duck as Ravichandran Ashwin got him LBW.
Quinton de Kock and Suryakumar Yadav took on DC bowlers in the powerplay as both the batters got Mumbai to a flyer. De Kock fell in the 8th over to Ashwin after making 40 runs. Suryakumar impressed once again with his performance and scored a fifty for MI. He made 51 from 38 balls with 6 fours and 2 sixes.
Kishan and Hardik steer MI to 200 runs

But Yadav fell soon after scoring his half-century and was disappointed on getting out. Ashwin struck again to dismiss the new batsman Kieron Pollard which left MI to 101/4 at 12.2 overs. Krunal Pandya added 13 runs and got out to Marcus Stoinis. However, Ishan Kishan kept on going and played with ease to take MI forward. Hardik Pandya joined Kishan and the two bolstered the team to a brilliant finish.
The pair made 60 runs in the last four overs of the game as MI reached the 200 run mark at the end of 20 overs. Kishan made 55 from just 30 balls with four boundaries and 3 sixes. Pandya was instrumental in finishing and made 37 runs from just 14 deliveries. He smacked 5 sixes in his innings. MI reached 200/5 after the end of 20 overs.
For DC Ravichandran Ashwin performed with the ball and picked up crucial wickets for the team. He took 3 wickets in his four-over and concede 29 runs. Rabada was expensive as he conceded 42 runs in his four overs without any success. Anrich Nortje also went for runs as he conceded 50 runs and took one wicket.
Stoinis help DC after a Poor start

Delhi Capitals chasing a massive target of 200 plus runs in Qualifier 1 fell for the worst start in its IPL 2020 season. Trent Boult’s swing bowling troubled the DC batters as he bowled a double-wicket maiden over in the very first over. Prithvi Shaw continued his poor season in IPL 2020 with another duck to his tally as he edged a catch on his second ball. Ajinkya Rahane failed to read the inswing bowl as he got out on the fifth bowl of the over.
Jasprit Bumrah came on in the next over and took Shikhar Dhawan with a pinpoint yorker. The top 3 batters were in the pavilion without scoring any run. DC were 0/3 within the first two overs. Skipper Shreyas Iyer showed some resolve as he scored 3 boundaries. But he was soon removed by Bumrah after making 12 runs.
Rishabh Pant also fell quickly after trying to go big to Krunal Pandya. Marcus Stoinis then along with Axar Patel then took DC lost chase to some stability. The pair batted cautiously after a poor start from the team and looked to take the team forward. Both added a much required 50 run stand for the team. Stoinis made 65 from 46 balls as he got out trying to even the climbing required run rate. Axar Patel played some good shots as he took MI bowlers to the stands.
Jasprit Bumrah returned in his second spell and picked up another two wickets to take his tally to 27 wickets in IPL 2020. Axar fell in the final over of Pollard as DC remained short by 57 runs. DC made 143/8 and lost the game by a huge margin. Jasprit Bumrah was the man of the match for his 4-1-14-4 in the game. He also grabbed the purple cap from Rabada with 27 wickets. This is the best tally by an Indian bowler in IPL. Boult took 2 wickets while Krunal Pandya and Pollard took one each.
Mumbai grabbed the win to book a spot in the finals of IPL 2020. DC on the other hand will no play the winner of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). RCB will play in form SRH in the eliminator at Abu Dhabi tomorrow.
