Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) to clinch the 2nd spot on the points table. The margin of defeat for RCB was however not bad enough to condemn them to the 4th spot on the points table.

Earlier, DC had won the toss and chosen to field first. RCB never really could get any sort of attacking rhythm as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals. Devdutt Padikkal top-scored with a half-century. AB de Villiers shone briefly during his knock of 35 runs in 21 balls. In the end, RCB managed to put up 152 runs on the board.

In the chase, as has been the case with their openers, DC lost their opener Prithvi Shaw early. But Ajinkya Rahane and Shikhar Dhawan attacked the RCB bowling attack with ease. Despite the duo perishing along with skipper Shreyas Iyer, DC chased down the target easily. The margin of defeat for RCB wasn’t large enough to see them drop to 4th place.
