Many believe Rohit Sharma, the batsman, hasn’t lived up to the expectations yet in the Indian Premier League (IPL). And this has been blamed to his frequent changes in batting position.
Ahead of Mumbai Indians’ (MI) clash against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) tomorrow, the Mumbai captain with his coach Mahela Jayawardene disclosed that he will open the game with Quinton de Kock.

Quinton de Kock will accompany Rohit in the opening slot, meaning Chris Lynn will warm the benches and wait for his chance. Lynn also did not had a great Caribbean Premier League season.
Rohit, at the press conference, said, “I opened for the entire tournament last year and will continue to do that. As a team, we keep all options open. I’m happy to do what the team wants. I enjoy batting at the top of the order and I’ve been doing it for a while. But even when I play for India, the message to the management is to not close any door and keep all the options open, so I’ll do the same here.”
Explaining the lack of experience in UAE, Sharma said that practice matches have helped them in understanding the conditions better. He also added that pitches will play a crucial role in the tournament.
