Mumbai Indians stand-in skipper Kieron Pollard shared delightful news for the fans after their game against Delhi Capitals. Pollard said that MI’s regular captain Rohit Sharma is recovering well, and might be available during the playoffs of IPL 2020.

Rohit recently sustained a left hamstring injury during Mumbai’s IPL game against Kings XI Punjab on October 18. It also prompted the national selection committee to opt him out of the upcoming Australia tour for all three formats.

“Rohit Sharma is getting better, getting there. We are excited as well. Looking forward to him coming back, he is working hard so let’s see what happens,” Pollard said during the post-match presentation ceremony during the DC game.

“We need to play another couple of good games and get to the final. This isn’t supposed to be our year (MI wins titles in odd years only), but it’s been working for us so far,” Pollard added.

Mumbai Indians beat DC in a one-sided encounter

The MI skipper lauded the brilliant batting performance from opener Ishan Kishan. The latter slammed 72* runs off just 47 balls against the Capitals to win the ‘Man of the Match’ award. The West Indian also appreciated the bowling efforts made by Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult.

“Each and every game, Ishan is getting better and better. Long may it continue. Been able to adapt to different scenarios. Didn’t even start at the beginning, then number 4. He prefers to open, and he’s adapting,” said the stand-in skipper.

“Boult was exceptional. That’s his strength, bowling with the new ball. He’s consistently given us good starts,” Pollard said.

“Bumrah, I kept delaying him, on this track with his angles. He’s jumping to bowl in the powerplays but, again I saw today getting those early wickets, and with the spinners getting a grip, kept him for the middle overs,” he concluded.
