The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) have announced Indian teams’ squads for T20Is, ODIs and Tests for their tour of Australia in November. The BCCI met via video-conference to select the squads for the three T20Is, three ODIs and four Tests.

The squads threw up more than a few surprises but none more so than the exclusion of star batsman and vice-captain Rohit Sharma. Rohit is currently a part of the Mumbai Indians (MI) franchise whom he captains. Rohit had sustained an injury against Kings XI Punjab in Dubai last Sunday and has been sidelined since then. Earlier this week, he missed the games against Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals. In his absence Kieron Pollard was the captain of MI.

The news of Rohit’s exclusion from the Indian squads has raised a lot of concerns among the Mumbai Indians faithful. His exclusion from the squads is definitely because of fitness reasons given the fact that Rohit is India’s vice-captain. Therefore, if Rohit will not be fit for the tour of Australia, it is also likely that he will miss out on MI’s matches in the IPL.

While this isn’t confirmed yet, if Rohit misses isn’t a part of MI’s starting XI for the rest of the IPL, it would be a huge blow to the franchise’s chances of winning a 5th IPL title. MI fans will be fretting over his availability as confirmation is awaited on the same.
