IPL 2020 RR vs MI: Ben Stokes ton and Samson’s fifty stun Mumbai Indians for an 8 wicket victory

Ben Stokes took time to get going in IPL 2020, but once he got his mojo back he struck a brilliant ton versus Mumbai Indians (MI). With the help of Sanju Samson fifty, Stokes took Rajasthan Royals (RR) to chase down 195 runs target set by MI.
Mumbai Indians were without Rohit Sharma once again who is recovering from an injury. Kieron Pollard won the toss for MI and opted to bat first. MI didn’t start well with Ishan Kishan and Quinton de Kock opening the batting as de Kock left in the very first over.
Suryakumar Yadav and Kishan batted for the next 9 overs and added 83 runs together before Kishan getting out for 37 runs. Saurabh Tiwari playing in place of Rohit Sharma added 34 runs in 25 balls.
Hardik Pandya powers MI to 195/5
MI all-rounder Hardik Pandya played an explosive knock of 60 runs in just 21 balls with 2 fours and 7 sixes. This is the first fifty for Pandya in IPL 2020 as he did not get a chance to bat much. He was on fire during the game as he hit Ankit Rajpoot’s 17th over for four sixes and eventually getting 27 runs in the over.
Pandya’s knock help MI post 195 runs with the loss of 5 wickets after the end of 20 overs.
Jofra Archer was the bowler who MI did not go against as the Briton took 2 wickets for 31 runs. Shreyas Gopal and Kartik Tyagi took two and one wickets respectively.
Samson and Stokes secure win for RR
Rajasthan Royals started with Robin Uthappa and Ben Stokes with the opening pair. Uthappa played some good shots but was dismissed by James Pattinson for 13 runs. Skipper Steven Smith also could not get to a big score in the run-chase as he got out for 11 runs.
Sanju Samson joined Stokes as RR were 44/2 in 4.2 overs. The duo added 152 runs for RR hitting big sixes throughout the innings. Ben Stokes had bigger things on his mind as raced to his second IPL century and his first in IPL 2020. Stokes made 107 off 60 deliveries and Samson added 54 from just 31 balls. Both the batsmen remained unbeaten and made sure RR reach the landmark comfortably.
This win for Rajasthan keeps them in the race for the important playoffs spot. Rajsthan are in 6th place with 5 wins and 7 losses in the tournament. The race for the playoffs is starting to get heated with KXIP, KKR, and RR fighting for fourth place. Mumbai however remain in the top spot with 7 win and 4 losses.
