IPL 2020: Twitter reacts to Nitish Rana’s scintillating knock against Chennai Super Kings

Nitish Rana struck a superb 87 for Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in their Indian Premier League match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK). KKR are facing off at the moment against CSK in what is an important match for them as they aim to recover from a mid-tournament slump to qualify for the playoffs.

After CSK put KKR in to bat, KKR got off to a good start and for the first time in this year’s tournament, the openers Nitish Rana and Shubman Gill registered a partnership in excess of 50. Following Gill’s departure, Sunil Narine and Rinku Singh didn’t last long as well. But Rana kept chipping away with boundaries and sixes. He took a special liking for Karn Sharma whom he smashed for three sixes in a row in the 16th over.

Rana had faced as many as 61 balls by the time he got out, having received strike a lot more times than expected. In the 61-ball stay, he made his presence felt with his crisp hitting. He kept hitting monster sixes over deep-midwicket while also picking gaps with ease on the off-side. He was finally dismissed by Lungi Ngidi but Rana had done his job. Following his departure, Eoin Morgan and Dinesh Karthik ensured the score crossed 170 as KKR finished with 172/5.
