IPL 2020 UAE: Rajasthan Royals (RR) Team Profile Overview, Stats, Auctions Analysis, Season-Wise Performance, Full Schedule and Squad
Rajasthan royals
Rajasthan Royals were the winners of the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League in 2008. Legendary leg spinner Shane Warne led the young Royals side to their maiden IPL triumph. But the Jaipur based franchise has not tasted victory in any other editions of the IPL. The best performance since the inaugural edition was in 2013 under Rahul Dravid’s captaincy where they finished in the 3rd place. Last season, they finished 7th.
However, a fresh Royals side has quality players in all 3 departments and would be raring to perform their best. The Royals could be one of the underdogs this season.
Rajasthan Royals: Team Overview
This year team Rajasthan has made the most out of the IPL auctions and purchased 11 players. This is the highest number of players purchased by a side in the auctions of IPL 2020. They have also assigned the captaincy to Australian batsman Steven Smith. However, the Royals will miss Indian Batsman Ajinjya Rahane who was traded to Delhi Daredevils.
Strengths
The biggest strength for the Rajasthan Royals will be their top order. They have Jos Buttler, Robin Uthappa, Steven Smith, and Sanju Samson as the top order batters who are all experienced players.
Weakness
Rajasthan Royals have lacked consistency in winning games in most of the seasons. They have played in the Playoffs only 3 times. The Royals also need to improve their bowling performance given good batting and all-round players in the squad.
