Sunrisers Hyderabad was in a do or die situation coming into their last league game against league leaders Mumbai Indians. And they put up a stunning performance at Sharjah to seal a spot in the playoffs. SRH crushed MI by 10 wickets to qualify for the playoffs for the fifth time in as many seasons.
Put in to bat first, MI were able to put 149 on the board thanks to some late fireworks from Keiron Pollard. But it was nowhere near enough as SRH chased down the total with 10 wickets and 17 balls in hand riding on half-centuries from openers David Warner and Wriddhiman Saha.
A good booster for us as a team
SRH’s star bowler Rashid Khan hails the win a great confidence booster for the side. Rashid lauds the openers for playing sensibly and taking their side home without any hiccups in the crucial game. The Afghan leggie shares that they are hoping to continue their three-game winning streak as they face Royal Challengers Bangalore in the eliminator.
“Both the batsmen exactly followed the plan and gave us a good start that we need in a T20. They played brilliantly and did not force the ball and play pre-plan shots,” Rashid told teammate Sandeep Sharma during a chat for IPLT20.com
“They played according to the wicket and then having a victory against Mumbai Indians and that too by 10 wickets is a good booster for us as a team. Hopefully, we continue our momentum and I am super excited to play against RCB again,” he added.
Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals will kick off the playoffs on Thursday as they meet in Dubai to decide the first finalist of IPL 2020. SRH will play RCB in the eliminator on Friday at Abu Dhabi.
