Kolkata Knight Riders registered an emphatic victory over Rajasthan Royals in a one-sided affair on Sunday. With this win, the Eoin Morgan-led side kept their hopes alive in the tournament for making it to the playoffs. Moreover, they knocked their opponents out from the contention of finishing in the top four.

KKR skipper Eoin Morgan was all praise of his team’s performance after the 60-run victory over the Royals. Talking about KKR’s playoffs chances, the 34-year left his team’s fate in the hands of cricketing gods.

“Yes, I was aware of the numbers (about net run rate) but, you need to first get yourself into a winning position. I don’t think we could have done anything more today. So whatever happens from here is up to the Gods,” Morgan said during the post-match presentation ceremony.

Batting first, the Englishman played a captain’s knock of 68* runs off just 35 deliveries. With this, the Kolkata-based franchise posted a winning total of 191/7 on the board at the end of their 20 overs.

“I thought 191 was a par score. I think every batsman who came back said the wicket was beautiful to bat on. And the dew came in much earlier than expected, so no real advantage for them. We were out there to play a free-flowing aggressive game anyway,” he added.

The KKR skipper also appreciated the bowling efforts made by his bowlers, especially Pat Cummins and Shivam Mavi. The former also won the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his four-wicket haul in the game.

“Shivam Mavi coming back was special, and Pat Cummins obviously. Winning the game was all about taking wickets, especially early. So having that aggressive mindset was important for us,” he concluded.
