Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) came up with an announcement yesterday that David Warner was removed from captaincy and that Kane Williamson would take over in the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Further, they had also announced that there would be changes to their overseas combination for today’s 3:30 PM match against Rajasthan Royals (RR).

Now, it has been confirmed that David Warner has been dropped for the match. At the toss, Kane Williamson revealed that Mohammad Nabi was the one replacing Warner. The New Zealander said, “This captaincy change is very sudden, so I just need to pick up and make the small adjustments which hopefully will reflect on the result. The goal for the last half of the campaign is to improve our performances.

David Warner’s absence was confirmed by Director of Cricket for SRH Tom Moody today who said, “We had to make the hard call – somebody has to miss out and unfortunately it’s him. He’s shocked and disappointed. Anyone would be disappointed. He has come to terms with the logic behind what we want to achieve from a franchise’s perspective.”

“He has rallied around the team and more importantly the team has rallied around him. I don’t think what’s happened in the past isn’t as relevant and we have made some significant changes in the group in the last 24-48 hours,” he added.

SRH also brought in Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Abdul Samad along with Nabi as J Suchith and Siddarth Kaul were dropped.
